Job Description – Director of Tennis, Pickleball &Fitness
Reports To: Susan Greer, General Manager
Position Overview
The Director of Tennis, Pickleball and Fitness is a dynamic leader responsible for the strategic direction, daily operations, and overall success of Stockdale Country Club (SCC) racquet sports and fitness programs. This individual ensures exceptional member experiences, develops engaging programming, manages professional staff, and maintains facilities to the highest standards. The Director will foster a culture of wellness, inclusivity, and community engagement while driving participation, member satisfaction, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Provide overall leadership and management of tennis, pickleball, and fitness operations, ensuring alignment with SCC mission and values.
- Oversee scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and daily facility operations for all racquet and fitness areas.
- Ensure facilities, courts, and fitness equipment are safe, well-maintained, and presented at a first-class standard.
- Establish policies, procedures, and standards of service excellence.
Programming & Member Engagement
- Develop, implement, and promote a wide range of innovative programs, lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, and special events for all ages and skill levels.
- Collaborate with the SCC departments to integrate racquet and fitness activities into social, youth, and community events.
- Actively engage with members to build relationships, encourage participation, and gather feedback.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for SCC on and off the courts/fitness floor.
Staff Development
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise tennis, pickleball, and fitness professionals, instructors, and support staff.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture that emphasizes member service and professional growth.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations to ensure staff excellence.
Financial & Business Management
- Prepare and manage annual budgets for tennis, pickleball, and fitness departments.
- Monitor financial performance, control expenses, and achieve revenue goals through lessons, clinics, programs, and retail sales.
- Collaborate with the Membership and Marketing teams to promote programs and attract/retain members.
Professional Development & Compliance
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and certifications in racquet sports and fitness management.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and health regulations.
Qualifications
- USPTA certification
- Progressive leadership experience in a private club, resort, or comparable environment.
- Proven success in program development, staff management, and member relations.
- Strong business and financial acumen with experience managing budgets.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Passion for delivering outstanding member service and fostering a healthy, active lifestyle.
