Director of Finance

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Director to lead our financial operations. Finance Director will oversee all aspects of financial management, including daily processing and reconciliation of general ledger accounts. Responsible for documenting and ensuring compliance with internal control procedures. Must have experience in preparation of monthly financial statements, while ensuring that support and services are conducted and fulfilled in a manner consistent with the standards, goals and objectives of the General Manager and Sun City Palm Desert Community Association. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Manages and coordinates the preparation of the yearly budget.
• Reconciles A/R and A/P ledgers and deferred revenue schedules.
• Maintains and reconciles all general ledger accounts and other schedules in a timely manner.
• Prepares month-end financial statements.
• Provides accounting support to operators of the Point of Sale system (Jonas).
• Prepares and posts month-end standard and adjusting journal entries.
• Prepares a monthly Financial Summary, presents it at the Board of Directors Meeting and ensures it is published in the Associations’ monthly newsletter.
• Tracks and files state and federal statuary compliance documents (i.e. the S-100).
• Maintains accounting control files.
• Coordinates inventory control with Pro Shop, Post Office and Fitness departments. Oversees physical counts and reconciles to general ledger.
• Assists in preparation of independent audit schedules and manages annual audit.
• Monitors all Sun City Palm Desert departments for compliance with Accounting Policies and Procedures.
• Monitors internal control procedures and recommends system changes where necessary.
• Maintains organized storage of accounting records.
• Manages and coordinates the preparation of the yearly budget for the Association.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/OR EXPERIENCE

Education and/or Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Business, minimum of five (5) years hands on experience with general accounting, knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), experience working with a CPA (annual audit), plus minimum three (3) years supervisory experience. Previous experience with HOA. Previous experience with a country club preferred.
